I had a childhood love for Alice in Wonderland and this led me to dream of a new magical experience that I could offer; and more specifically, to provide Mad Hatter themed tea parties. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0009-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p>I had Milwards Estate in mind as the venue as I had seen the stunning outdoor grounds before. Clare invited me to explore the surroundings and I discovered the perfect spot for the upcoming shoot. Just up the grassy hill from the picturesque lake I stumbled across a rose covered arbour, almost hidden away from view. I knew immediately that this was going to be the perfect setting for an awesome Mad Hatter tea party. It was as if it was meant to be! <br></p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0024-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> I was so excited as I could already envisage exactly how this would look with the collaboration of the talented team that was coming together. I imagined bright bold colours, mad, fun and quirky props, and of course characters who would bring it all alive. I also wanted to create something that was a bit edgy and very memorable. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0053-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p>The lead up to the day; all the planning, zoom meetings, the chats and new ideas, was so much fun. Everyone involved really owned their aspect and got so creative and inventive. The day of the shoot arrived and the crew and cast descended on the estate. The weather was glorious and we immediately began the fun of setting the stage (well, the table really!). My pretty vintage crockery graced the table along with wonderland themed props, stationery and tasty treats. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0018-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> Artificial florals by Julie created an explosion of colour and texture on, and around the table. Julie's large crystal chandelier was a real wow factor centre-piece, catching the spring sunshine of the morning. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0060-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> We obviously needed to bring the scene alive and for that we required models and costumes. From the start I knew my partner Nick, with his 6'5 slim build, could be transformed into an amazing Mad hatter. Luckily he was only too willing to help out. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0001-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p>Kristy (our Alice) has been modelling since she was a child and took everything in her stride. She is beautifully petite, and seeing her beside the Mad Hatter, with the vast height difference, just added to the drama and magic. <br></p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0058-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> Anita is no stranger to dressing up! She treads the boards most years in local pantomimes and has such a fun personality. As an actual celebrant, she was the perfect choice for our Queen of Hearts. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0016-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> We are so lucky to have a local fancy dress and costume shop. It would have been rude not to ask Donna to help out and she jumped at the chance! Her collection is amazing and she has a real eye for detail. Its the small added extras that make the outfits so special such as the unique hat pins in the top hat, the cotton reel spool bandolier and mismatched striped stockings under the Mad Hatters velvet breeches. Alices dress is traditional blue with a pretty lace apron but she wore striped tights and quirky shoes to hint at her dark side. Our Queen of Hearts flounced around in her high collared dress complete with tutu skirt and spectacular wig. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0021-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p>Our characters would not be complete without the skills of a hair and makeup artist. Emese got her hands on them to finish the transformation. She worked true magic giving each model a dramatic look perfect for their role. She made the most of Kristys beautiful long hair, adding the dramatic dark veil created by Annemarie. This is a fabulous alternative wedding idea if you are looking for something different. Annemarie creates such beautiful bespoke veils and she loved the chance to make something with dark netting for a change. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0065-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p>Amy was given the shoot details and ran with the Wonderland theme. She created the most perfect party stationery including invitations, table settings and menus. All the details were exquisite and her calligraphy is amazing. If I was lucky enough to receive one of these invitations I would be so excited! </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0048-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p>My vintage cake stands and china plates would have looked rather naked without Vals tasty delights. Afternoon tea wonderland style included flamingo cookies and toadstool cupcakes. Val encapsulated the theme in delicious perfection. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0039-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> Of course we needed to capture this magical scene. I'd seen Alisons work previously and just knew she was the photographer for the job. As Alison Wonderland Photography she also has the perfect name! When she agreed, I was so excited for what was to come. Alison worked closely with the team ensuring that everyones specialty was featured. She guided the models creating some spectacular shots. Alison captured the day better than I could ever have imagined and continued the work afterwards with her dreamy editing. </p><p><img src="../blogimages/594162078/pretty-and-punk0010-theme-wedding-inspiration-sussex-wedding-inspiration.jpg" style="width: 100%;"><br></p><p> It was an absolute delight to work with so many creative and talanted suppliers and to see my vision come to life. I truly cannot wait to recreate this set-up for others to enjoy. This would work so well for a variety of events. Birthdays obviously, but why not let your imagination run wild!
