This rich, wintery styled shoot was inspired by the Merchant Taylors Yorks dark and moody decor and one of My Pretties UKs favourite T.V shows, Outlander and created the concept for this shoot.
The venue boasts dark oak panelling, a large open fire and lot's of rich colours in the furnishings, I instantly imagined a winter shoot with a nod to the show and it's Scottish locations. We used a scheme of navy, royal blue, red and deep orange which we carried through the shoot from the stationery by Love Paper Co, flowers, cake by Elizabeth Balaban Cake Design and styling.
Our Florist Frenchie Loves Flowers created
epic, raised plinth arrangements to fill the vast ceiling height of the
impressive venue and I created a rich and dramatic tablescape alongside her,
full of candle light and metallic touches.
Bex of Eclectic Brides was the obvious choice with her incredible range of vintage and eclectic bridalwear. She brought two beautiful dresses for our model, with beading and dramatic sleeves which were perfect for the theme of the shoot.
Hair and
makeup by Lottie Haigh Wedding Hair
and KH Make Up Artistry complimented
the dresses and added to the overall Outlander theme, Jen asked for loose waves
and a traditional chunky braid in our models hair. Makeup was kept traditional
except for a darker, more dramatic lip colour.
Matthew Kitchen Photography had a job on his hand shooting in a dark venue with dark styling but did a wonderful job of mixing the natural light and photography lighting to create this lovely mood.
